WHEREAS we regard school choice and equal educational opportunity to be a civil right no less than any other, and

WHEREAS we are determined to leverage our votes to compel government to restore our right to school choice, and

WHEREAS we can strengthen the power of our votes by creating an ever growing voting block, now therefore be it

Welcome to
Parents for Free Choice in Education

Thank you for your interest in SCHOOL CHOICE. The more one learns about this subject, the more one comes to realize that the time for school choice has come. There is truly no compelling reason to prevent School Choice from happening, except the strong political opposition from the education establishment which is bent on preserving their monopoly.

According to former Mayor Bret Schundler of Jersey City, NJ, this is the only battle which needs to be fought – the political battle. This particular battle requires voters and voting blocks. Everyone who enlists, will surely recruit others, for this is the only way we will be able to build the political base required for achieving choice in education.

New Jersey parents who choose private or religious education for their children are compelled to pay three times for education! Their local property taxes – the highest in the country – pays for their local schools. Their substantial state sales and income taxes are allocated to pay for pre-school through HS in the 31 Abbott Districts. The third time they pay is by way of ever-rising tuition costs for their own children. How are families to survive the unconscionable burden of having to pay three times for education?

To win the school choice battle we must also become familiar with the arguments being put forth by school choice opponents. Please see attached article, “Debunking the anti-school-choice myths.”

You can take immediate action on behalf of school choice by sending a letter to your state representatives in Trenton. Click on Take Action above.

Thank you again for your interest in school choice, and on behalf of the countless children and parents who will benefit from your efforts, please be assured that your every act to further this great cause is most appreciated.

School Choice will...

Improve quality of education -- both public and private.
Competition in all areas of life has proven to bring out the best in us.

Give parents the right to choose where and how their children are educated.
Education ought to be the domain of parents – not government.

Place responsibility for a child’s education on the parent.
Government should not be replacing parents in their role as educators of their own children.

Distribute education tax dollars more equitably among all school children.
Educational funds should not be denied because of ones personal or religious beliefs.

You said it!

“…When parents and children come to realize that their educational choices can make a difference in their lives, they will assume responsibility to use these choices wisely…It will result in an entire generation of children growing up and believing that they are responsible human beings.”
Bret Schundler, Mayor of Jersey City, New Jersey

“If parents of students have the right to choose so many other basics in their lives—such as where they live, where they go to church, where they work—then they ought have the right to choose where their children go to school.”
Kurt Schmooke, Mayor of Baltimore, Maryland

“What’s wrong with education cannot be fixed with technology. No amount of technology will make a dent. It’s a political problem…. I’m one of those who believe the best thing we could ever do is go to the full voucher system.”
Steve Jobs, Co-founder, Apple Computer

“I believe that if Martin Luther King and A.D. King were here they would say ‘Do what’s best for the children.’ It [the idea for school vouchers] may sound radical, but so were they.” And, “Is it moral to tax families, compel their children’s attendance at schools, and then give no choice between teaching methods, religious or secular education and other matters?”
Alveda King, Niece of Martin Luther King, Jr.
